Our Philanthropic Endeavours

Many of us live fortunate lives and I believe those of us that do have a responsibility to help others…I’d even go harder and suggest it may even be an obligation.

My family and I support a range of charities including World Vision, The Salvos, The Smith Family, The Conviction Group and recently the Royal Flying Doctor Service. For example we’ve been supporting World Vision for over 20 years as an important part of doing some good in the world.

Our more recent and most committed efforts as a family have been with Brighter Futures (formerly Fair Go Australia) wonderfully led by John Godwin. Through my passion for running across City to Surfs in Sydney, Half Marathons in Sydney & The Gold Coast and full Marathons across Sydney, Melbourne and New York I’ve often raised funds to help others. I’m proud to say that through the generosity of hundreds of others over several years starting in 2010 we raised around $125,000 for Brighter Futures.

In 2019 my wife Emma and our children, referred to as “Team Hondo” went to Myanmar to support Richie Harkham and the Hark Angel charity. For a number of years Richie and his team were dedicated to building schools in regional towns across Myanmar and we had the privilege to raise $30,000 and visit the village in Myanmar where the school would be built. We also went to the opening of a school through the efforts of Hark Angel while we were there.

HarkAngel

Hark Angel have successfully built 9 schools in developing nations. Over 2000 children have now been given the opportunity to receive an education and change their lives. Hark angels mission is to work with impoverished communities to build schools, empowering them to support their children in obtaining an education in order to fulfil their full potential.

Inspiring Brighter Futures

Inspiring Brighter Futures Foundation (previously known as Fair Go Australia Foundation) is a non-profit organisation offering wellbeing mentoring programs to disadvantaged people. The foundation was established in 2009 by a group of educators and business people determined to help those in the community who need it most. Their goal is to work co-operatively and closely within Australian communities to provide much needed support and practical assistance through our hard-working, founding volunteers.
